2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the A/C Clutch on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The first step to replace or remove the compressor and magnetic clutch of the 1GR-FE engine requires refrigerant discharge from the refrigeration system. The first step includes detaching both engine under cover sub-assembly No.1 and the fan and generator V belt from the system. A technician can disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly through the removal of its nut followed by the O-ring followed by the application of vinyl tape to seal openings to stop the entry of moisture and foreign matter. Perform the same procedure on the suction hose sub-assembly by unbolted the nut and O-ring before properly sealing the openings with vinyl tape. You should disconnect the connector followed by removing the four bolts which secure the compressor alongside the magnetic clutch. To install the compressor with magnetic clutch use four bolts that should be torqued to 24 N.m (245 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) after securing both components together. Installation of the suction hose sub-assembly requires vinyl tape removal and O-ring fitting with compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to new O-ring and surface before installing the O-ring and securing the hose with the nut to 9.8 N.m torque (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Rephrase this procedure for the discharge hose sub-assembly by applying compressor oil on both the new O-ring and fitting surface then tighten the nut to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm and 87 in.lbf). The last steps involve installing the fan and generator V belt followed by engine under cover sub-assembly No.1 components together with refrigerant charging and engine heating before inspecting for any leaked refrigerant.
