2006 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2006 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Service and repair of the throttle body requires starting with the removal of the negative battery terminal cable. Service professionals should first remove the No. 1 engine under cover subassembly (for 4WD and Pre-Runner) to drain engine coolant. The next step involves disconnecting the pressure sensor connector while disengaging the wire harness clamp and disconnecting the vacuum hose followed by disconnecting the No. 2 ventilation hose and another vacuum hose before loosening the 2 hose clamp bolts. The third step is to remove the intake air connector by removing its 3 bolts. The procedure to remove the throttle with motor body assembly involves disconnecting the water by-pass hose before unfastening the No. 2 water by-pass hose and the throttle motor connector followed by unthreading two bolts and two nuts before taking off the throttle with motor body while also discarding the gasket from the intake manifold. Begin the install process by placing a new gasket on the intake manifold followed by throttle with motor body installation through the 2 bolts and 2 nuts tightened to 9 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Next, connect water by-pass hoses and throttle motor connector. Once complete, install the intake air connector using the 3 bolts with 8 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) torque then tighten hose clamp bolts to 5 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) while reopening all vacuum hoses together with ventilation hose No. 2. Lastly, secure the wire harness clamp and connect the pressure sensor connector. The negative battery terminal cable needs reinstallation at 3.9 N.m of torque followed by adding engine coolant then inspecting for leakage before finishing with the engine under cover sub-assembly No.1 installation (for 4WD and Pre-Runner).
