2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the center Air Bag sensor on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: Before inspecting the center Air Bag sensor, users should disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Start by removing the front door scuff plates on both sides and the cowl side trim sub-assemblies on both sides together with the instrument panel finish lower panel on the left side and the shift lever knob sub-assembly followed by the console box carpet and the console upper rear panel sub-assembly and the rear console box assembly as well as the console panel sub-assembly upper then the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.1 before removing the instrument panel finish lower panel on the right side and the console box front and air ducts which include rear No.1 and No.2. Separate the center Air Bag sensor assembly by first removing its holder with attached connectors then removing its 3 bolts. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least 90 seconds before starting installation when the ignition switch is off. Install the center Air Bag sensor assembly with its 3 bolts but check for defects which would require an assembly replacement. Tighten the bolts with 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 in.lbf) torque and reinstall the holder with its connectors before checking the installation parts for looseness and water-proof sheet position. Reconnect the battery negative terminal and perform an initialization check for both Power Window Control System and Sliding Roof System before checking the SRS warning light.
