2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag Sensor on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: The Air Bag Control Module requires servicing when the service technician disconnects the battery negative terminal first. The service begins with removing the front door scuff plates (LH and RH), cowl side trim sub-assemblies (LH and RH), instrument panel finish lower panel (LH), shift lever knob sub-assembly, console box carpet, console upper rear panel sub-assembly, rear console box assembly, console panel sub-assembly upper, instrument panel under cover sub-assembly No.1, instrument panel finish lower panel (RH), and console box front. Remove the air ducts rear No.1 and No.2 and then disconnect the center Air Bag sensor assembly holder which includes its connectors. After that, remove the 3 bolts from the assembly. Begin the process by shutting off the ignition and waiting for the negative terminal to be disconnected for 90 seconds as the first step before starting the installation. Install the center Air Bag sensor assembly with its 3 bolts only for this step yet ensure that the material shows no damage before moving to the new part. Tighten the 3 bolts gradually to 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 in.lbf). Check that SRS wiring stays clear of all components and that no part gets pinched. Connect the holder together with connectors to the center Air Bag sensor assembly following a proper setup of the water-proof sheet and installation part clearance. Reconnect the battery negative terminal before starting initialization of both the Power Window Control System and Sliding Roof System while checking the SRS warning light.
