Position Sensor

Start by switching off the ignition and disconnecting the negative (-) battery cable before waiting for 90 seconds to disable the SRS system before sensor installation in the rear side. Secure the side Air Bag sensor to the vehicle with an installed bolt which should be tightened to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). Then insert the pin (stopper) into the body hole. Sensor replacement becomes necessary if you notice any cracks or dents or any form of defects or if you drop the component. The SRS wiring installation must maintain sufficient clearance from other vehicle components and the pin (stopper) must remain tightly secured when using the bolt torque to prevent any system damage. The wire harness stays protected from damage when you correctly connect the Air Bag connector while its locking sleeve audibly returns to the starting position. In the installation process of side Air Bag sensor components it is essential to inspect whether anything is loose. The installation process should start with placing the lower center pillar garnish then connecting the front seat outer belt assembly and installing the lap belt outer anchor cover before adding the rear door opening trim Weather Strip and rear door scuff plate followed by the front door opening trim Weather Strip and front door scuff plate. After reattaching the cable to the negative terminal check that systems need initialization according to their specifications. The system needs a diagnostic check followed by an inspection of the SRS warning light for correct operation.

Ensure the SRS wiring is not pinched or interfering with other parts, check for any looseness in the installation, and reconnect the connector.

Ensure the ignition switch is off and the battery negative terminal is disconnected for at least 90 seconds.

Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, perform initialization if required, and inspect the SRS warning light.

Install the new airbag sensor rear LH with the bolt, ensuring the ignition switch is off and the battery negative terminal is disconnected, with a torque of 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf).

The ignition switch should be off and the battery negative terminal should be disconnected for at least 90 seconds.

Install the reclining remote control lever sub-assembly.

Replace it with a new one.

Check for proper clearance, ensure the connector is securely attached, reinstall the front seat assembly LH, and inspect the SRS warning light.

Reinstall the front seat outer belt assembly, center pillar garnish lower, rear and front door opening trim weatherstrips, and rear and front door scuff plates.

Ensure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or get pinched by other parts, and check for any looseness in the installation parts.

Install the rear seat side garnish, rear seatback assembly LH, rear seat headrest assembly LH, rear seatback assembly RH, rear seat center headrest assembly RH, rear seat headrest assembly RH, rear seat cushion assembly, spare wheel cover, rear door opening trim weatherstrip, and rear door scuff plate.

Verify that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

Ensure the power switch is off and the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected, waiting 90 seconds after disconnection to prevent airbag deployment.

Connect the airbag sensor connectors.

Ensure the sensor has not been dropped or subjected to impact.

Shake the front airbag sensor.

Tighten the 3 bolts to a torque of 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 in.lbf).

Ensure the ignition switch is off and the battery negative terminal is disconnected for at least 90 seconds.

If it has been dropped or shows any cracks, dents, or defects in the case, bracket, or connector, replace it with a new one.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal and wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding.

Install the airbag sensor using 3 bolts, torqued to 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf).

Inspect the rear airbag sensor by performing a diagnostic system check.

Ensure the ignition switch is OFF and the cable is disconnected from the negative battery terminal.

Check for any looseness in the installation parts and connect the connector.

Install the console box sub-assembly, shift lever knob sub-assembly, console box assembly, No. 2 console box carpet, lower instrument panel sub-assembly, No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly, cowl side trim sub-assembly RH, front door scuff plate RH, air conditioner control assembly, upper console panel sub-assembly (with or without seat heater system), lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel, cowl side trim sub-assembly LH, and front door scuff plate LH.
