2006 Toyota Sequoia Control Arm Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the front upper Control Arm on 2006 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The front upper suspension arm repair process starts with front shock absorber and coil spring removal before proceeding to disband the front speed sensor wire harness clamps by extracting the 2 bolts from the steering knuckle and upper suspension arm. After removing the ball joint cotter pin users should loosen the nut before disconnecting the front upper ball joint with Special Service Tool: 09950-40011 (09951-04010, 09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04031, 09958-04011). During this process the steering knuckle must be safely supported until the nut is removed. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 clips from the rear fender apron seal which enables detachment of the 2 brake lines and fuel line to uninstall the nut connected to the brake line clamp. First remove the front suspension upper arm assembly by unthreading the nut then the bolt while also eliminating the pair of washers. The flange of the bushing requires a chisel along with a hammer to elevate it before employing Special Service Tool: 09613-26010 to extract it. Install the new bushing through the combination of Special Service Tool: 09631-12090, 09710-30021 (09710-03051), a press, and a steel plate. The installation of the upper suspension arm requires the use of 2 washers with a bolt and nut before torquing them to 98 Nm (1,000 kgf-cm, 72 ft. lbs.). Proper suspension stabilization should follow after torquing. To complete the installation secure the brake and fuel line clamp to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 inch lbs.) then install the rear fender apron seal. The upper suspension arm welcomes the upper ball joint and getting nut and fresh cotter pin installation before extending the nut tightness to 60 degrees because of the misalignment and torquing it to 105 Nm (1,100 kgf-cm, 77 ft. lbs.). Finally reconnect front speed sensor wire harness clamps at 8.0 Nm torque and reinstall front shock absorber with coil spring followed by inspection of front wheel alignment before sensor calibration of steering angle and master cylinder pressure and yaw rate and deceleration sensors occurs.
