2006 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service a Washer Pump on 2006 Toyota RAV4?
A: A proper start to washing motor service involves disconnecting the power cable from the battery terminal while waiting for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner functions. The washer inlet sub-assembly should be removed by disassembling the clip then elevating the washer inlet from the washer jar and pump. Both fender liners require removal from the front area along with radiators support pieces and front bumper cover pieces. Release washer fluid through the process of removing washer hoses which connects to the windshield washer motor and pump assembly before collecting drained fluid in a proper container. Begin by disconnecting the connectors of the windshield washer jar assembly before taking out its 3 bolts and finally pulling the windshield washer motor and pump assembly from the washer jar packing. The rear washer motor and pump assembly should be drawn outward from its packing inside the washer jar. To install both components first position the rear washer motor and pump assembly within the packing of the washer jar before putting the windshield washer motor and pump assembly inside the packing. Replace the windshield washer jar together with the pump by tightening the 3 bolts while reattaching all connectors. The washer fluid fills the washer jar and pump assembly after securing the washer hoses and waiting for jar. The repair ends by reconnecting the negative cable to the battery while reattaching the washer inlet to its jar and pump and securing it through the clip before putting back the front bumper cover with radiator support opening cover as well as both front fender liners.
