2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the radio antenna cable on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: You should begin radio antenna cord servicing by detaching the negative battery terminal cable then waiting at least 90 seconds to avoid triggering Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners. The first step is to remove the roof headlining assembly before disconnecting the antenna cord sub-assembly connector while removing all 10 clamps and ground bolt and antenna cord. The next step involves taking out the instrument panel sub-assembly. You must first disconnect the connector and break the 3 clamps and 2 claws connecting the No. 2 antenna cord sub-assembly before you can remove the cord. You should attach three clamps and two claws to the No. 2 antenna cord sub-assembly before connecting its connector. Position the instrument panel sub-assembly first then attach the antenna cord sub-assembly by fastening 10 clamps and installing the antenna cord with bolt torque to reach 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf) and connect the connector. The installation sequence concludes with roof headlining assembly mounting followed by restoring the cable connection to the negative battery terminal and undertaking system initialization because some systems need this procedure when removing and reattaching the cable.
