2006 Toyota Highlander Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the transmission speed sensor on 2006 Toyota Highlander?
A: The service and repair work on the transmission speed sensor requires you to first remove the air cleaner assembly along with the battery. First disconnect the speed sensor connector from the nt sensor before removing its bolt and speed sensor. The nc sensor service requires disconnecting its speed sensor connector before you remove the bolt and remove the speed sensor. Measure the resistance of the disconnected nt sensor connector by following aisin and toyota design values but keep the transaxle connector detached. Follow the same procedure for the sensor on the nc side. The installation of the nc sensor begins by applying atf to its O-ring before placing the speed sensor with bolt while torquing it to 11 nm (115 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.) using a sensor from the same manufacturer. After connecting the speed sensor the installation process must be repeated for the nt sensor. Return the battery and the air cleaner assembly back to its original position.
