2006 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front wheel speed sensor on 2006 Toyota Highlander?
A: Commence the front wheel speed sensor service by first removing both the front wheel along with the left-hand side front fender splash shield subassembly. Begin the speed sensor repair by disconnecting the sensor connector before removing its two bolts along with clamp while removing the sensor from the body and shock absorber assembly. Afterward tighten the bolt that secures the speed sensor without allowing any foreign matter to contact its tip. Secure the speed sensor front with the bolt using 8.0 N.m of torque (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf), then attach it using two bolts together with the clamp with a torque of 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for Bolt A and 29 N.m (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf) for Bolt B while avoiding any wire twisting throughout the installation period. After reconnecting the speed sensor connector, reattaching the front fender splash shield subassembly, you should then reinstall the front wheel while torquing it to 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf). Perform a signal check on the ABS speed sensor as the last step of installation.
