2005 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Front Wheel Speed Sensor (SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH) on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: The procedure to change Front Wheel Speed Sensor (SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH) starts with wheel and fender splash shield sub-assembly LH removal. First disconnect the speed sensor connector followed by removal of the 2 harness clamp securing bolts that also accommodate the sensor to the body and shock absorber unit front right left. Verify that all foreign materials avoid adhering to the sensor's tip. First secure the new speed sensor FR LH to its position through its bolt by using 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque before checking the sensor tip for foreign material. Reattach the sensor harness clamps with bolts A first then bolts B. Begin by tightening Bolt A to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) and finishing with Bolt B to 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Keep the sensor wire straight while performing the installation. After finishing the connector connection the tech should install the front fender splash shield sub-assembly LH while securing the front wheel with a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Proceed to verify the ABS speed sensor signal after finishing the installation procedure.
