2006 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor on 2006 Scion xB?
A: First follow all necessary precautions before starting to service and repair the Steering Angle Sensor. The technician should disconnect the negative battery terminal cable while waiting ten minutes to avoid activating the Air Bags with their pretensioners. After centering the front wheels the technician should remove the steering pad assembly followed by the steering wheel assembly and steering column cover and spiral cable sub-assembly and steering sensor by unlocking the 4 claw fittings. When installing the steering sensor to the spiral cable make sure all claw fittings stay secure to prevent damaging the claw fittings. First normalize the front wheel and afterward readjust the spiral cable sub-assembly before placing back the steering column cover and the steering wheel assembly. Recheck the steering wheel's center position before putting back the steering pad and connect the power cable to the battery negative terminal. The technician should inspect the steering pad assembly and test SRS warning illumination before conducting VSC system calibration while checking both ABS and VSC warning lights.
