2005 Scion xB Steering Angle Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the steering angle sensor on 2005 Scion xB?
A: A proper replacement of the steering angle sensor begins with battery terminal disconnection along with proper safety steps. Start by placing front wheels in straight position before removing horn button assembly together with steering wheel assembly, steering column cover and spiral cable sub-assembly. You must carefully detach the 4 claw fittings which will allow you to take off the steering sensor from the spiral cable before securely placing the new steering sensor onto the spiral cable so that the claw remains undamaged. To finish the installation procedure you must first align the center front wheel before putting back the spiral cable sub-assembly and centering the spiral cable. You need to reinstall the steering wheel assembly before performing inspections of the steering wheel center point then checking the horn button assembly as well as the SRS warning light. Conclude VSC system calibration while inspecting the warning lights for both ABS and VSC.
