- Q: How to service the front Air Bag sensors on 2006 Scion xA?A: Before servicing the front Air Bag sensors users need to disconnect the negative battery cable for at least a 90-second wait time to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Unfasten and extract the bolt along with the inlet of the No. 1 air cleaner. The procedure to service the left front Air Bag sensor requires removal of its connector followed by two bolt fasteners and sensor extraction. You should repeat the identical process for the right front Air Bag sensor. Before installing the left front Air Bag sensor be sure to fasten it with two bolts tightened to 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) and check for any signs of damage which warrants sensor replacement. The SRS wiring should avoid contact with other components while being free of any pinching deformation. Use the same procedure to connect the sensor connector after installation before moving to the right front Air Bag sensor installation. Installation of the No. 1 air cleaner inlet requires replacing its bolt followed by negative battery terminal connection and system initialization for post-battery connection requirements. Verify the SRS warning light displays correct functioning as the last step.
