2006 Scion xA Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2006 Scion xA?
A: The procedure to service an ignition coil begins when the user disconnects the negative cable from the battery terminal and waits for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Begin the ignition coil servicing procedure by removing the head cover number 2 cylinder through the unfastening of its 4 cap nuts and dismantling the cover. Remove the 4 ignition coil connectors within this stage and detach the 4 bolts so you can pull out the 4 ignition coils. The installation method requires positioning the 4 ignition coils with 4 bolts and torque them to 9.0 N.m which equates to 90 kgf.cm or 80 in.lbf. Then reconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors. Then install the head cover using 4 cap nuts before tensioning them to 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf). Before finishing the procedure users must connect the cable to the negative battery terminal while initializing the systems which need this step whenever a cable disconnect and reconnect occurs.
