2006 Scion tC Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the side Air Bag sensor on 2006 Scion tC?
A: The side Air Bag sensor servicing process begins by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery and waiting 90 seconds which stops Air Bags and seat belt pretensioners from activating. Service the side Air Bag sensor by first disconnecting the front door lower frame bracket garnish LH, assist grip cover LH, front armrest base panel upper LH, front door trim board sub-assembly LH, then removing the side Air Bag sensor assembly LH by disconnecting the connector and removing its 2 nuts. The side Air Bag sensor assembly LH installation requires its attachment through 2 nuts, which should be tightened to 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 82 in.lbf). You must replace the Air Bag sensor when it experiences a drop incident or presents any visible damages such as cracks or dents. The SRS wiring must avoid all other parts while maintaining an unpinched state. Reconnect the connector after checking all installation components are tight then proceed to reinstall the front door trim board sub-assembly LH together with front armrest base panel upper LH, assist grip cover LH and front door lower frame bracket garnish LH. After reconnecting the cable to the negative terminal perform initialization because some systems need this procedure followed by checking the SRS warning light.
