2005 Scion tC Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the Rear Left Air Bag Sensor on 2005 Scion tC?
A: The replacement procedure for the Rear Left Air Bag Sensor follows the steps used for the right side but adds specific instructions for the left side installation where it ends with the reverse order of removal steps. Expertise in Air Bag System service procedures must be observed during the starting phase. Disconnect the negative battery terminal before waiting for least 90 seconds. Only continue work then. The installation of the Rear Left Air Bag Sensor requires removal of four components including the tonneau cover assembly and two front door components (scuff plate LH and Weather Strip LH) with the deck trim side panel assembly LH. Disconnect the air bag sensor rear LH by separating the connector then removing the 2 nuts in place. Install the new air bag sensor rear LH by securing it with the 2 nuts while the ignition switch remains off and battery negative terminal disconnected and torque to 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). A new air bag sensor needs replacement when it has suffered any impact or exhibits manufacturing defects. The SRS wiring should avoid other components at all times while remaining free of any pinching. The installation check should be performed on all parts before attaching the connector to the Air Bag sensor rear LH. After reconnecting the battery negative terminal the process requires initialization of power windows controls along with sliding roof systems before checking the SRS warning light.
