  A: The replacement of a water pump assembly (2TR-FE) starts with disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. The first step involves removing Engine Under Cover Sub-Assembly No.1 through the removal of its 4 bolts. Start by draining engine coolant before removing the 3 bolts attaching the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly followed by the generator assembly. After that, eliminate the fan shroud and finally loosen the radiator support to frame seal LH. The next step involves water pump assembly removal by first taking out both the gasket and the 10 bolts. Set the water pump in position with new the gasket then tighten the 10 bolts beginning with A to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.) and moving to bolt B to 9 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.). Install the V-ribbed belt tensioner temporarily with bolts A and B while tightening bolt B first to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) then applying torque to bolt A at 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft. lbs.). Set the bolt holes of the V-ribbed belt tensioner and timing chain cover correctly before tightening bolt C to 43 Nm (434 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the generator assembly and fan shroud as well as radiator support for frame seal LH. Use the negative battery terminal cable and tighten it to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs).
