    Q:
How to remove and install a water pump on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The water pump removal requires starting with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal followed by disassembly of the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly using the removal sequence of all 4 bolts. Drain the engine coolant while taking out the 3 bolts from the radiator support to frame seal LH and fan shroud and generator assembly and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly. The first step toward water pump assembly removal must involve the removal of 10 bolts and the gasket. Visual examination of the water hole and air hole should be done to inspect coolant leaks. If leakage occurs the water pump needs replacement. Physical testing of the water pump bearing by turning the pulley seat will reveal motion without any noise; the pump must be replaced when necessary. Installation requires a new gasket and the water pump which must be put in place using the 10 bolts and tightening bolt A to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.) while bolt B reaches 9 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.). Secure and tighten bolt B of the V-ribbed belt tensioner first to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) before torquing bolt A to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft. lbs.). To install Bolt C position the bolt holes of the V-ribbed belt tensioner and timing chain cover correctly before tightening Bolt C to 43 Nm (434 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.). Put the generator assembly together with the fan shroud, radiator support until they reach frame seal LH. The negative battery terminal receives a cable which requires a torque setting of 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) then follows additive engine coolant procedures and under cover sub-assembly No. 1 gets installed with 4 bolt attachments at 30 Nm (306 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.).

    Q:
How to service and repair the water pump on Toyota Tacoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to work on a 2TR-FE engine water pump requires disconnecting the negative battery cable. To access the water pump move on to step 1 and uninstall the 4 bolts fastening the under cover sub-assembly of the No. 1 engine. The service begins with draining engine coolant while removing the radiator support and its frame seal LH and the fan shroud. Disassemble the generator unit during the next step. Follow this operation by removing 3 bolts from the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly and then remove the water pump assembly by taking out its 10 bolts while removing its water pump and gasket.
