2005 Toyota Tacoma Thermostat Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Draining the engine coolant should be the first step when replacing the 2TR-FE thermostat. Begin by removing the water inlet after undoing its bolt and 2 nuts before detaching the water inlet and extracting the gasket installed on the timing chain cover. After extracting the thermostat relocate it to the timing chain cover. The installation process requires you to set the jiggle valve upward on the thermostat while positioning it between 10 degrees of both sides of the recommended alignment. You should place a new gasket and the water inlet onto their positions and tighten the bolt and 2 nuts to 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.). Last step is to pour the engine coolant while conducting a leak test.
