2005 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step in repairing the Clutch Slave Cylinder consists of draining clutch fluid. Unfasten the clutch housing cover No.1 through bolting its 3 screws out. Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 enables the removal of the clutch release cylinder from its flexible hose tube which allows you to take out the bolt and clutch line bracket while collecting fluid in a container. Start by separating the clutch release cylinder by removing its two bolts followed by pulling it out. Install compressed air to pull out the clutch release cylinder piston and spring through the cylinder body's opening after removing its boot and push rod while keeping the interior free of damage. Twist off the bleeder plug cap before removing its plug from the housing of the bleeder plug. The proper torque specification for the bleeder plug installation step is 11 Nm or 110 kgf-cm or 8.0 ft. lbs. During clutch release cylinder kit installation start by installing the bleeder plug cap and then add the spring followed by lithium soap base glycol greasing the specified areas before fitting the piston into position while protecting the cylinder interior from harm. Put the push rod along with boot onto the cylinder body. Put back the clutch release cylinder assembly while using 2 bolts that require torque at 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 8.7 ft. lbs.). The clutch release cylinder should be connected with Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 before the flexible hose tube installation and clutch line bracket torquing to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 8.7 ft. lbs.). Perform a clutch pressure bleed which requires brake fluid filling in the reservoir tank while bleeding the system for clutchline leak inspection. The service technician should complete the installation by placing back the clutch housing cover No.1 with its 3 bolts while tightening them to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 8.7 ft. lbs.).
