2005 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder Assembly on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Service and repair operations on the Clutch Master Cylinder Assembly require draining the clutch fluid followed by disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube and the clutch master cylinder to flexible hose tube with Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. To access the driver side junction block first remove the front door scuff plate LH, cowl side trim board LH and instrument panel finish panel lower No.1 from the vehicle. The service starts with clutch pedal removal along with clutch master cylinder by disconnecting the clutch start switch connector followed by 2 nut and bolt removal. Detach the clutch reservoir tube after removing the clutch master cylinder assembly by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect the 2 way tube from the clutch master cylinder. Then remove the nut and clutch start switch from the clutch pedal support before taking out the 2 bolts. The process of installation requires users to secure the clutch master cylinder assembly with 2 bolts at 16 Nm (158 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and attach the clutch start switch with nut torqued to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.). Fit the clutch master cylinder assembly to the vehicle with two nuts and one bolt then tighten the nut to 14 Nm (145 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) and bolt to 24 Nm (245 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.). After that, join the clutch start switch connector. Refashion the driver side junction block and put back the instrument panel finish panel lower No.1 along with the cowl side trim board LH and front door scuff plate LH. Ending the procedure requires Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to join the clutch master cylinder to the flexible hose tube while tightening it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.), followed by connecting the clutch reservoir tube and completing brake line bleeding (without VSC), bleeding the clutch pipe line, testing and readjusting the clutch pedal sub-assembly then checking for brake fluid leakage (without VSC) and clutch fluid leakage before verifying the fluid level in the reservoir.
