2006 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2006 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step to service the Clutch Master Cylinder involves draining clutch fluid and disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube and the clutch master cylinder to flexible hose tube with special tool 09023-00101. Uninstall the front door scuff plate LH and the cowl side trim board LH followed by the lower No. 1 instrument panel finish panel to access the driver side junction block. The clutch pedal with clutch master cylinder requires disconnection of the clutch start switch connector followed by 2 nuts and bolt removal to proceed with removal. The process begins by disconnecting the clutch reservoir tube and using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to unlink the 2 way tube from the clutch master cylinder. After this, remove the nut along with the clutch start switch from the clutch pedal support followed by taking out the 2 bolts. The installation process begins with securing the clutch master cylinder assembly through 2 bolts that should be torqued to 16 Nm (158 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Afterward, install the clutch start switch by tightening its nut to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.). Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to link the clutch master cylinder to the 2 way tube by torquing to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.), then attach the clutch reservoir tube. After mounting the clutch master cylinder with its pedal to the vehicle through two bolted nuts the tech must apply torques at 14 Nm (145 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) for the nuts and 24 Nm (245 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.) for the bolts before connecting the clutch start switch connector. Reconnect the driver-side junction block as you install the lower instrument panel finish panel number one along with cowl side trim board LH and front door scuff plate LH. To complete the procedure the technician must link the clutch master cylinder with the flexible hose tube using Service Tool 09023-00101 while torquing it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) followed by connecting the clutch reservoir tube then performing brake line bleeding (w/o VSC) and clutch pipe line bleeding. The technician must inspect the clutch pedal sub-assembly and check both brake fluid (w/o VSC) and clutch fluid leaks and verify the fluid level in the reservoir.
