2005 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Transmission Speed Sensor on 2005 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Service and repair operations for the Transmission Speed Sensor start with disconnecting its No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connector and removing the sensor by unbolted it. The first step in disassembling No. 1 vehicle speed sensor involves removing its O-ring from the speedometer driven gear assembly followed by the clip and speedometer driven gear from the speedometer driven gear sleeve. Renew the O-ring with ATF then install it to the speedometer driven gear assembly before mounting the speedometer driven gear along with clip to the speedometer driven gear sleeve. It is essential to install the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor with its bolt tightened to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 86 inch lbs.) for A750E and 11.5 Nm (117 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.) for A750F. Proceed with the installation by plugging in the No. 1 vehicle speed sensor connector before disconnecting the speed sensor NT and SP2 connector followed by removing the speed sensors NT and SP2 through the process of unlatching the two bolts and two O-ring removal. The technical team should apply ATF to two new O-rings before installing them onto the speed sensors NT and SP2. Then install the speed sensors NT and SP2 with the 2 bolts torqued to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) followed by connecting the speed sensor NT and SP2 connector.
