The removal of the lower ball joint requires special service tool: 09628-62011. Before attaching the nut, inspect the ball joint rotation condition by rotating the stud five times in each direction. Then apply torque with a wrench based on a continuous 3-5 second rotation pattern to measure a 1.0 - 4.9 Nm (10 - 50 kgf-cm, 9 - 43 inch lbs.) value at the fifth turn. The installation process requires placement of the lower ball joint with its matching nut secured at 133 Nm (1,360 kgf-cm, 98 ft. lbs.) torque followed by a new cotter pin installation; in case cotter pin holes do not align properly increase the nut torque up to 60°.
