2005 Toyota Prius ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: You can start installation of the brake actuator assembly by taking off the FR wiper arm LH, FR wiper arm RH, hood to cowl top seal, cowl top ventilator louver LH, cowl top ventilator louver RH, and windshield wiper motor & link assembly. The operator must complete accumulator pressure down by shifting to P position followed by using the parking brake while connecting the hand-held tester to DLC3 and turning the switch to IG position and selecting "ZERO DOWN" on the tester while maintaining the reservoir fluid level above "LOW." The process of air bleeding requires a brake control ECB exclusion step through motor relay removal of No.1 and No.2 prior to starting the procedure. Start by taking away the outer front section of the cowl top panel sub-assembly as well as the w/converter inverter assembly then empty the brake fluid out and split the water w/motor & bracket pump assembly from one another. The brake actuator with bracket requires removal by unlocking its connector and separating hose No.2 while removing its clip. Then use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to separate the front brake tubes No.5 and No.1 from the brake actuator assembly. The brake actuator assembly requires removal by unscrewing bolts and nuts from its position on the gusset assembly before disposal through drilling a hole to bleed gas out of the assembly while wearing protective eyewear. The new brake actuator assembly installation requires alignment of positioning pins followed by tightening all bolts and nuts according to specified torque values while maintaining the proper order of bolt tightening sequence. The procedural stage includes reconnecting the water w/motor & bracket pump assembly followed by installation of the w/converter inverter assembly while performing reassembly of instrument panel components that encompass passenger Air Bag assembly. The protocol finishes by filling the brake fluid reservoir followed by bleeding the brake actuator and inspecting fluid leakage while checking both brake fluid level and performing diagnostic system tests and active diagnostic testing.
