2005 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear seat belt on 2005 Toyota Prius?
A: Start with the removal of the rear seat cushion assembly along with the rear door scuff plate RH, rear side seat back frame RH, rear door opening trim Weather Strip RH and back seatback assembly RH, tonneau cover assembly, rear floor board No.2, rear floor board No.1, rear floor board No.4, deck floor box LH, deck floor box rear, deck trim cover rear, deck trim side panel assembly RH and roof side garnish assembly inner RH. You must begin by extracting the rear seat outer belt assembly RH through bolt removal along with the seat belt before proceeding to dismantle the rear seat outer belt assembly center by unscrewing its 4 claws with a screwdriver and removing 9 clips then flipping the seatback cover to eliminate the bolt and seat belt. Remove the rear seat inner belt assembly RH and center while taking out their specific bolts and seat belts then detach the CRS lower anchorage by removing its 2 bolts. Mount the CRS lower anchorage with its 2 bolts then tighten these bolts to 31 Nm (316 kgf.cm, 23 ft.lbf). Drive in the rear seat inner belt assembly center and RH with bolts which require a torque value of 42 Nm (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) while ensuring the anchor part of the belt stays clear from the floor panel protrusions. A belt assembly on the rear seat outer must be checked for its locking position to verify the retractor remains intact and whole. When the belt reaches its locking position at 15 degrees or less it should extend from the retractor continuously and at 45 degrees and above it should lock into position. The seat belt assembly requires installation using the bolt to a torque of 42 Nm (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) before adding the 9 clips and floor anchor bolt with the same torque setting. The belt must lock quickly after being pulled and an ELR test needs to be completed on the installed assembly. The installation of the rear seat outer belt assembly RH requires the same testing and torquing procedure as used on the first side. Complete all installation stages according to the original specifications. The child restraint system fastening function requires verification because it should automatically retract itself when pulling the belt fully and you must be able to pull and retract it after a full retraction.
