2004 Toyota Prius ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2004 Toyota Prius?
A: The first stage of brake actuator assembly replacement requires removal of the FR wiper arm LH and wiper arm RH and components including hood to cowl top seal along with cowl top ventilator louver LH and RH and the windshield wiper motor & link assembly. To perform accumulator pressure down users need to shift the lever to P position then apply parking brake and connect the hand-held tester to DLC3 followed by turning on power switch (IG) while using tester to select "ZERO DOWN" under conditions that the fluid reserve level stays above "LOW." The power switch should be turned off and brake control (ECB) requires disabled operation through removal of motor relays No.1 and No.2 before performing air bleeding. Remove the cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front and the w/converter inverter assembly and drain brake fluid from the system before separating the water w/motor & bracket pump assembly by removing its bolts and clamps. Follow these steps to remove the brake actuator with bracket: Free the lock, disconnect the connector and then remove the clip and brake actuator Hose No.2 while using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to divide front brake tubes No.5 and No.1. Start the brake actuator assembly removal process by disconnecting all mounting bolts and nuts which attach it to the gusset assembly. The brake actuator assembly disposal requires drilling a hole to release the charged gas while using protective glasses. Mount the new brake actuator assembly by slots its positioning pins into place and torque all bolts to standard specifications. Avoid any improper assembly sequence. Installation of the water w/motor & bracket pump assembly must be followed by w/converter inverter assembly and cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front then windshield wiper motor & link assembly followed by FR wiper arms. Complete the brake fluid reservoir before performing brake actuator bleeding followed by testing for leakage and verifying proper fluid levels. Additionally, check and clear the DTC codes. Then initialize the system with an active test.
