2004 Toyota Prius Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2004 Toyota Prius?
A: The Crankshaft Position Sensor replacement starts by removing rear floor board No.2 followed by deck floor box rear and ending with rear floor board No.3. The battery negative terminal of engine wire No.3 must be disconnected before the crankshaft position sensor can be removed by disconnecting both its connector and the bolt. After applying engine oil to the crankshaft position sensor O-ring you should install the sensor with the bolt while maintaining a torque of 7.5 Nm (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) and taking care to avoid damaging the O-ring. Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor after joining it to the No.3 engine wire (negative terminal of the battery). After leak checks on the vehicle engine, put the components in their correct positions such as the rear floor board No.3, deck floor box rear, and rear floor board No.2, while also carrying out power window control system initialization.
