2003 Toyota Prius ABS Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the ABS Control Module for Antilock Brakes on 2003 Toyota Prius?
A: The procedure to remove the Hydraulic Control Assembly for Antilock Brakes begins with outer front cowl top panel removal followed by converter and inverter assembly separation then disconnecting water valve connector and 2 hoses followed by bolt removal of the water valve assembly at 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Part 1: Disconnect all six brake lines through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 and tighten with torque to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Workings begin by loosening 3 connectors before you can remove the brake actuator by unthreading its 2 nuts and its assembly with 19 Nm torque (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). You must then detach the 3 bolts that connect the brake actuator to the actuator bracket using 11 Nm torque (120 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.). You must remove the 3 spacers with 3 cushions before disconnecting 4 connectors and 2 clips from the brake actuator. Install these connectors using the labeled color scheme during reinstallation. Use a torque wrench to remove both bolt and bracket components of the brake actuator assembly at 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.). You should install the brake actuator by following the opposite direction of removal steps after filling the brake reservoir with fluid and bleeding the brake system and checking for leaks.
