2005 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Master Cylinder on 2005 Toyota Celica?
A: The Clutch Master Cylinder service starts with braking booster removal before removing the reservoir hose with pliers to separate the clip and removing the hose from the inlet union. Reserve the fluid that comes out in a container. Next disconnect the clutch line by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while catching the fluid in a container. You can extract the master cylinder by taking off its two mounting nuts after dislodging the pin and clip using needle-nose pliers. The inlet union needs disassembly through slotted spring pin removal using a 3 mm pin punch with hammer followed by inlet union removal with grommet. First loosen the lock nut to extract the clevis from the cylinder before removing its boot. First apply snap ring pliers on the push rod while pushing it to release the snap ring before slowly pulling out the push rod along with the washer. Completion of the disassembly process requires removing the piston with spring from the cylinder. Start by lubricating all parts with lithium soap base glycol grease and place the piston with spring inside the cylinder. Slide the push rod through along with the washer into the piston before securing it with the snap ring. Install the boot to the cylinder before placing the lock nut and clevis in position. Then install a new grommet with the inlet union and drive the slotted spring pin inside using a 3 mm pin punch and hammer. Start by fastening the master cylinder through two mounting nuts before torqueing them to 12 Nm using 120 kgf-cm or 9 ft. lbs. Next, install the pin along with the clip. The clutch system incorporates Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 for joining the lines while the inlet union receives its reservoir hose with the yellow mark oriented upward before receiving a securing clip. The brake booster should be reinstalled followed by brake fluid insertion into the reservoir before bleeding the clutch system and adjusting the clutch pedal while verifying for leakage.
