2005 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2005 Toyota Celica?
A: Service and repair of the Clutch Slave Cylinder starts with clutch line disconnect. First securely lift the vehicle then remove the LH and RH engine under covers before using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect the clutch line and keep the fluid in a container until the vehicle is lowered. After taking out the air hose and clutch line clamp set bolt from the air cleaner case assembly you can remove the release cylinder. To separate the pieces start by pulling the boot from the push rod followed by taking off the boot from the push rod and use compressed air while holding the piston wrapped in a waste cloth to prevent its movement and stop brake fluid from sprinkling. Use compressed air to pull out the piston with spring from the cylinder while holding the piston carefully. After coating the piston with lithium grease, install the bleeder plug with 8.4 Nm torque, and then fit in the piston into the spring inside the cylinder before adding the boot and push rod. The two bolts holding the release cylinder to the clutch line bracket must be torqued at 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before the clutch line clamp installation to the clutch line bracket with a bolt torqued at 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 inch lbs.). Next, reinstall the air cleaner case assembly with the air hose. The final procedure includes using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to connect the clutch line while torquing it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Afterward, add brake fluid to the reservoir tank then bleed the clutch system before performing leak checks followed by reinstalling the LH and RH engine under covers and lowering the vehicle.
