2004 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2004 Toyota Celica?
A: Service of Clutch Slave Cylinder begins with disconnecting the clutch line while supporting the vehicle then removing LH and RH engine undercovers. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to detach the clutch line while catching fluid in a container during the vehicle lowering process. The air cleaner case assembly must be removed first together with the air hose and clutch line clamp set bolt before removing the release cylinder and clutch line bracket and two clamping bolts. Start disassembly by removing the boot alongside the push rod before taking the boot off from the rod. When using compressed air to extract the piston with spring from the cylinder users must either hold the piston with waste cloth to prevent jumping while simultaneously avoiding brake fluid splashing. Reassemble the bleed valve with 8.4 Nm torque before applying lithium soap base glycol grease to the piston and placing piston and spring into the cylinder. The procedures include hooking up the push rod to the boot followed by attaching the boot with push rod to the cylinder for installation. The installation requires attaching the release cylinder with clutch line bracket by tightening two bolts to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) and then installing the clutch line clamp through the bolt to the bracket with 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 inch lbs.). Finally, attach the air cleaner case assembly with its air hose. The process ends with clearance operations that involve Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to achieve a 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque on the clutch line. Then fill the brake fluid into the reservoir tank and bleed the clutch system. Finally, inspect for leaks before reinstalling both LH and RH engine under covers and lowering the vehicle.
