2005 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder assembly (MTM) on 2005 Scion xB?
A: Start the clutch release cylinder assembly (MTM) service and repair by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect the flexible hose tube from the clutch release cylinder while collecting fluid into a container. First detach the two bolts that fix the clutch release cylinder assembly before extracting the assembly. Start by removing the union bolt as well as proceeding to detach both the clutch release union and applying gasked removal. You should remove all components of the clutch release cylinder kit starting with boot removal then the push rod followed by the piston extraction while avoiding any damage to internal areas. Uninstall the bleeder plug cap together with the spring from the bleeder plug. Place the bleeder plug in position and torque it at 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 in.lbf). Install the bleeder plug cap as the first step for the clutch release cylinder kit installation then equip the new piston with soap-base lithium grease before mounting piston and push rod along with boot onto cylinder body while keeping an eye out for inner damage. After securing the spring, apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the new piston before installing it onto the cylinder body. Ensure proper torque (25 Nm) with 0 - 3 degree angle against the body when tightening the clutch release union bolt with two new gaskets. Install the clutch release cylinder assembly after tightening its two bolts to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Install the clutch release cylinder to the flexible hose tube using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 following a torque setting of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). After reservoir tank filling with brake fluid complete the bleeding process of the clutch system before checking for fluid leaks.
