2005 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the air conditioning blower motor on 2005 Scion xB?
A: The first step in servicing or repairing the air conditioning blower motor requires refrigerant discharging from the refrigeration system through Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 with additional tool numbers 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, and 07117-88080. Installation of Special Service Tool: 09870-00015 into a piping clamp enables the clamp lock to release by pushing down then the piping clamp can be removed. Cover all open system fittings before the 2 O-rings are extracted from the suction hose sub-assembly while sealing the openings with vinyl tape. Use Special Service Tool: 09870-00025 to disconnect sub-assembly A of the liquid tube according to the specified procedure. Start by removing the heater control knob followed by the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center, the instrument panel sub-assembly with passenger Air Bag assembly, and finally the instrument panel assembly lower with instrument panel reinforcement. The technician can first remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly ECM by loosening the claws and detaching the connector and screw removal before proceeding to remove the air conditioning blower assembly through wire harness disconnection and bolt and screw removal. The service technician must dismantle the components using specified tools such as a 5 mm hexagon wrench to unlock the air filter case followed by a damper servo sub-assembly and blower resistor before proceeding to remove the blower motor cover, blower with fan motor sub-assembly and cooler wiring No.2 and cooler thermistor No.1 before accessing the air conditioning tube & accessory assembly. The cooler expansion valve must also be disassembled with a 4 mm hexagon wrench. When installing the new evaporator use compressor oil on its O-rings before setting the cooler expansion valve and air conditioning tube & accessory assembly into place and applying compressor oil to the O-rings. The installation process starts with lower instrument panel assembly along with instrument panel sub-assembly that contains the passenger Air Bag assembly after a proper application of compressor oil to the O-rings. To finish the installation process place the suction hose sub-assembly and use Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 with 380 plus or minus 30 g (13.9 plus or minus 1.1 oz.) specified refrigerant charge and inspect for leaks after engine warming.
