2005 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Switch in the Heater or Boost Ventilator Control Assembly on 2005 Scion xB?
A: You must eliminate three heater control knobs as the initial step to change the Heater or Boost Ventilator Control Assembly. To begin the disassembly process of the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly CTR start by unscrewing two screws and proceed to use a moulding remover to detach six claws and six clips followed by disconnecting two connectors. The claw connecting points of the heater control & accessory assembly require disengagement but caution should be taken to not bend the cable wire because this will impact the operational performance; taping the screwdriver tip before use is recommended. The same procedure is necessary for handling the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly. The removal procedure requires the disconnection of the air inlet damper control lever by opening the claw before unscrewing two screws from the heater switch assembly. Connect the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly's inner cable end to the heater control lever before fastening the outer cable on the cable clamp to maintain straight cable wire position which prevents operational defects. The heater control knob stops without recoil at both FACE and DEF positions while the outer cable should not disengage when pulled. Set up the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly by linking its inner end to the heater control lever before both securing the outer cable to the clamp and reconnecting the connector to proceed with heater control & accessory assembly installation with the cable wire kept straight. Confirm that the heater control knob reaches its stops correctly at every point along both MAX positions. COOL and MAX. It is important to check two things: the cable wire should not reel back when pulling the outer cable andhot without recoiling during the maximum cooling or heating positions.
