2005 Scion xA Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder assembly (MTM) on 2005 Scion xA?
A: Service and repairs on the clutch release cylinder assembly (MTM) can be performed by disconnecting the flexible hose tube from the clutch release cylinder with Special Service Tool: 09020-00100 and collecting any fluid in a container. After securing the clutch release cylinder assembly with two bolts removal becomes possible for the procedure. First the assembly requires a union bolt removal followed by the clutch release union and completion of removing the two inserted gaskets. Managing the clutch release cylinder kit requires disconnecting its boot and push rod and cylinder body piston while taking care to preserve internal cylinder integrity. You should detach both the spring and bleeder plug cap from the bleeder plug unit. Follow installation of the bleeder plug by tightening it with 8.4 Nm torque (85 kgf-cm, 74 in.lbf). Reinstall the bleeder plug cap then conduct installation of new pressure spring followed by part lubrication with lithium soap base glycol grease and subsequent placement of piston followed by push rod and boot assembly onto the cylinder body. Apply a torque of 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.) along with an installed angle of 0 degrees plus or minus 3 degrees to the body while putting the clutch release union and two new gaskets along with the union bolt. Fasten the clutch release cylinder assembly to its positions using the two bolts at a torque of 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). The clutch release cylinder requires a connection to the flexible hose tube through Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 while applying 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) torque. Complete the task by adding brake fluid to the reservoir before performing clutch system bleeding using 8.4 Nm (86 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.) torque while verifying no fluid leaks from the clutch.
