2004 Toyota Matrix Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the front wheel speed sensor on 2004 Toyota Matrix?
A: You should begin front wheel speed sensor replacement by first removing the front wheel and left-hand side front fender liner. Remove the speed sensor wire harness clamp both from the body framework and from the speed sensor connector. Detach the clamp bolts that secure the sensor harness to body and shock absorber before separating the speed sensor and its bolt while maintaining cleanliness of the sensor tip. After cleaning the sensor tip of the new speed sensor front LH, install it with the specified 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque on its bolt. You must reinstall the sensor harness clamp with Bolt A receiving 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm) torque while Bolt B requires 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm). After that, connect both the speed sensor connector and wire harness clamp to the body. After installing the front fender liner and front wheel you must apply 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) torque and perform a test of the ABS speed sensor signal.
