How to replace the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 on 2003 Toyota Highlander?

The replacement process for Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 starts with removing the instrument panel finish panel sub-assy lower along with the instrument pnl insert sub-assy lwr LH, the front door scuff plate LH, the cowl side trim sub-assy LH and the front floor footrest. After disconnecting the parking brake pedal assy from its cable assembly through the removal of the retaining clip the operator can proceed with pipeline replacement. The next step requires removing the nut to separate the parking brake cable assy No. 1 from its connection with the parking brake equalizer. Obtain access to the parking brake cable assy No. 1 body attachment by raising the floor carpet before removing its two securing bolts. To install the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 attach it to the body with 2 nuts tightened to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). Coat and secure the parking cable assy No. 1 with clip to the parking brake pedal assy before connecting it to the parking brake equalizer through a lock nut tightened at 12.5 Nm (128 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). The last step includes reinstallation of front floor footrest and cowl side trim sub-assy LH along with front door scuff plate LH, instrument pnl insert sub-assy lwr LH, instrument panel finish panel sub-assy lower. Adjust the parking brake pedal travel during this process.
