The service of an oil cooler begins with draining coolant along with removing the oil filter. When servicing the oil cooler disconnect the hoses from the cooler followed by removal of the union bolt and plate washer together with the oil cooler component while carefully extracting the O-ring from the cooler. The inspection of the oil cooler should happen before replacement if it shows any sign of damage or clogging. Clean the oil cooler contact area of the mounting before installing a new O-ring on the oil cooler and adding a thin layer of engine oil to union bolt threads and beneath its head. Insert and tighten the oil cooler assembly by using the union bolt and plate washer according to a torque value of 68.6 Nm (700 kgf-cm, 51 ft-lbs). After reinstalling the oil filter users should begin with engine coolant filling and engine start-up while inspecting both engine oil leaks and oil level.
