2002 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear Control Arm No. 2 LH on 2002 Toyota Highlander?
A: The replacement of rear suspension arm No. 2 LH starts by removing the wheel from the rear of the vehicle. The replacement of rear suspension arm No. 2 on 2WD vehicles requires bolt removal from its inner position followed by removal of bolt, nut and arm from the carrier's outer aspect keeping in mind to turn and extract the bolt when securing the nut. The 4WD drive type requires technicians to mark toe adjust components before removing bolts and cam and nut from inside then repeating steps at the outer side of the rear axle carrier. The rear suspension arm No. 2 LH requires temporary screwing for the 2WD drive type by installing the inner side with bolt facing the painted mark backward before connecting the outer side to the rear axle carrier with the bolt and nut through the rear opening. To fit rear suspension arm No. 1 (outer side) on the 4WD drive type assemble it to the rear axle carrier with bolt and adjust cam before a temporary nut tightening before linking the outer side of rear suspension arm No. 2. The 2WD drive type bolts must reach 100 Nm torque while you must both turn and install the bolt during nut installation. It is necessary to reassemble the rear wheel using a torque of 103 Nm followed by a check of the rear wheel alignment.
