2002 Toyota Highlander Control Arm Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the control arm on the LH side on 2002 Toyota Highlander?
A: The LH control arm replacement begins with removing the engine assembly with transaxle systems from both 1MZ-FE and 2AZ-FE engine vehicles. Start by removing the transverse engine mounting insulator through the removal of its 3 nuts. Uninstall the front suspension arm sub-assembly lower No. 1 LH by detaching 2 bolts from the front and a bolt with nut from the rear side to extract both the lower suspension arm and its lower suspension arm bushing stopper from the lower suspension arm shaft. Install the lower suspension arm bushing stopper to the lower suspension arm shaft before installing the lower suspension arm and tighten the front-side bolts to 200 Nm torque (2,040 kgf-cm, 148 ft. lbs.) and the bolt and nut on the rear side to 206 Nm torque (2,100 kgf-cm, 152 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the transverse engine mounting insulator through three nuts that require 87 Nm (890 kgf-cm, 64 ft. lbs.) torque before reattaching the engine assembly with transaxle for both 2AZ-FE and 1MZ-FE engine types.
