2002 Toyota Camry Control Arm Parts Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Control Arm for Rear Suspension on 2002 Toyota Camry?
A: You must begin the replacement of the rear control arm by removing the rear wheel along with the exhaust pipe assembly center while keeping in mind that the 1MZ-FE engine and the 2AZ-FE engine require different exhaust system procedures. After removing the rear stabilizer bar you must separate both rear suspension arm assembly Number One units from the left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) sides by applying the same sequence. The next order requires separation of both rear suspension arm assembly No. 2 units and the strut rod assembly rear before removing the rear suspension member sub-assembly. To detach the rear suspension arm assembly No. 2 LH from the rear axle carrier disconnect its bolt, nut and inner side bolt while maintaining the fixed position of the nut while loosening the bolt. Screw the inner side bolt of the rear suspension arm assembly No. 2 LH first with temporary torque before placing the component as shown in the manual. Tighten the bolt fully to reach 100 Nm (1,020 kgf-cm, 74 ft. lbs. of torque. Reinstall the rear suspension member sub-assembly by first tightening all rear suspension arm assemblies No. 1 and No. 2 on both sides and the strut rod assembly rear. Installation of the rear stabilizer bar follows while carrying out suspension stabilization and complete tightening of both rear suspension arm assemblies No. 1 and No. 2 on either side along with the strut rod assembly rear. Finish by following engine-dependent exhaust pipe assembly guidelines and reinstall the rear wheel with 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) torque while conducting rear wheel alignment check.
