How to service and repair the front control arm on Toyota Avalon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the front control arm commences with taking off the front wheel using 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs. torque. The service begins with disconnection of the lower suspension arm from the lower ball joint through the removal of 2 nuts combined with a bolt operated at 127 Nm (1,300 kgf-cm, 94 ft. lbs. torque). Start by detaching the lower suspension arm from the front side through the removal of two bolts which need 206 Nm (2,100 kgf-cm, 152 ft. lbs.) torque then proceed to the rear side where you remove bolt and nut using a torque of 206 Nm (2,100 kgf-cm, 152 ft. lbs.). The final step includes lowering suspension arm removal with its bushing stopper. The procedure for bushing replacement requires the use of Special Service Tools including 09649-17010, 09710-04081 and a steel plate combined with a press device to extract the old bushing and then installation demands the utilization of Special Service Tools 09238-47012, 09649-17010 with a press to correctly position the new bushing. The installation process should reverse the steps followed during removal and when complete front wheel alignment must be checked.
