- Q: How to service and repair the rear control arm on 2001 Toyota Sequoia?A: The service and repair of rear control arm begins by taking off the rear wheel which should be torqued to 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). A jack should support the rear axle housing. The service requires disconnecting the speed sensor wire harness followed by removing the bolt and brake line bracket with an application torque of 28 Nm (286 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.). In order to remove the parts you should start by unfastening the 2 nuts along with washers and bolts of the upper control arm and torque at 140 Nm (1,428 kgf-cm,103 ft. lbs.). Before installing each nut you should stabilize the suspension. Begin by taking off the lower control arm through the steps of extracting the bolt that secures the parking brake cable bracket with 26 Nm torque (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft. lbs.) then removing the two nuts and bolts holding the lower control arm and torquing them to 130 Nm (1,326 kgf-cm, 96 ft. lbs.). Follow all steps in the opposite sequence of removal to reinstall the components.
