2001 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the brake caliper on 2001 Toyota Echo?
A: Begin brake caliper servicing by first removing the front wheel and fasten the disc's hub nuts to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Detach the flexible hose by unfastening its union bolt and caliper gasket while torquing the connection to 30 Nm (310 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.). Drain the brake fluid into a container during this process. The service begins by obtaining the sliding pin while loosening and then removing the 2 installation bolts which need to be torqued to 34 Nm (350 kgf-cm, 25 ft. lbs.). Finally, remove the caliper from the torque plate and detach the 2 dust boots from that plate. Next, take off the brake pads including their anti-squeal shims together with the two pad support plates. The process of installation consists of following the removal steps in reverse order together with brake fluid filling and brake system bleeding which should include a leak check.
