    A: The repair of an upper ball joint starts by uninstalling steering knuckle equipment alongside axle hub before preparing upper ball joint by uninstalling wire and boot while using a snap ring expander to detach the snap ring followed by the installation of Special Service Tool: 09950-40011 (including 09951-04010, 09952-04010, 09953-04020, 09954-04010, 09955-04031, 09957-04010, 09958-04011) and deep socket wrench to remove the upper ball joint. Before tightening the nut on the ball joint inspect its rotation condition by doing five back-and-forth motions to the ball joint stud then apply torque with a wrench while continuously turning the nut at 2 to 4 second intervals until the fifth turn at which the torque should measure 0.7 - 4.4 Nm (7 - 45 kgf.cm, 6 - 39 inch lbs.). The installation process requires Special Service Tool: 09309-37010 together with a socket wrench to install a new ball joint followed by using a snap ring expander to place a new snap ring and securing the new boot with new wire while making use of the supplied grease before reattaching the steering knuckle with the axle hub.
