Before handling the stop light switch assembly it is crucial to disconnect the negative cable from the battery for 90 seconds to avoid activating the Air Bag pretensioner and seat belt pretensioner systems. Proceed with the stop light switch assembly removal after completing disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal.

The installation requires inserting the stop light switch assembly until it touches the cushion while keeping your hands behind the pedal to stop it from being pushed in. When the assembly reaches its position turn it clockwise by one quarter before applying 1.5 Nm of torque (15 kgf-cm or 13 in-lbf). Begin by connecting the connector and measure the rod's protrusion which must fall within 1.5 to 2.5 mm (0.059 to 0.098 in.) space. Adjustments should be made without applying force to the brake pedal.

Service or repair of the brake light switch starts with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal. First detach the stop light switch connector from its position on the switch before turning the stop light switch counterclockwise for its removal.

Install the stop light switch assembly by inserting it so that the rod touches the cushion and maintain support to the pedal from its rear section to keep it from sinking. Add a quarter turn in the clockwise direction after assembly fitment and use torque tools to tighten it at 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf). The rod measurement should fall between 1.5 and 2.5 mm (0.0591 to 0.0984 inches) after connector connection. Adjustments can be made by following the proper sequence when the brake pedal stays in its resting position.

The first step to install the stop light switch assembly requires placing the stop light switch inside the adjuster until the assembly barely contacts the brake pedal without triggering it. Follow this step by turning the switch in a clockwise direction by a quarter turn yet maintain the brake pedal untouched throughout installation. The torque specification when tightening the stop light switch should be limited to 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf). Technical evaluations of stop light switch clearance must happen after installation to confirm distances fall between 0.5 to 2.6 mm (0.020 to 0.102 in.). Then connect the stop light switch connector to the stop light switch.

The installation of the stop light switch requires attaching two claws to the stop light switch mounting adjuster. The stop light switch needs installation to press against the pedal cushion with a force of under 98 N m (1000 kgf cm, 72.3 ft. lbf). Move the stop light switch through 90 degrees clockwise while the adjuster secures it together but the switch extends no more than 1 pitch when rotating. The stop light switch requires a torque setting of 1.5 N m (15 kgf cm, 13 in. lbf) during this process while ensuring silicon grease does not touch the switch. Finally, connect the connector.

The brake light switch service requires starting with the stop light switch assembly removal followed by disconnecting the connector and rotating the switch according to the marked arrow. The next step requires pulling off the 2 claws to take away the stop light switch mounting adjuster.

Perform initialization as certain systems require this process after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Connect the stop light switch connector to the stop light switch.

Reconnect the stop light switch connector and reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal with a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).

Connect the stop light switch connector to the stop light switch.

Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal, ensuring a torque of 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) is applied.

Reconnect the connector.

Detach the 2 claws to remove the stop light switch mounting adjuster.

Connect the stop light switch connector to the stop light switch.

Connect the connector.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
