Crankshaft Position Sensor

The first step for servicing the Cranksaft Position Sensor involves removing the intake manifold. The customer should first disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector and then unscrew the 2 mounting bolts which need to be reinstalled with a torque limit of 9 N.m (92 kg.cm, 79 in.lb). The sensor installation sequence follows the opposite steps compared to removal.

Service of the Crankshaft Position Sensor starts with removing the intake manifold and the engine under cover RH. The crankshaft position sensor requires its connector to be disconnected before the technician removes two bolts retaining the sensor while using 8.8 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 78 in.lbf) torque settings. An ohmmeter inspection reveals a correct operation when cold sensor resistance lands between 1,630 - 2,740 Ohm in the -10 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius temperature range while hot sensor resistance should be between 2,065 - 3,225 Ohm within the 50 degrees Celsius to 100 degrees Celsius range. A crankshaft position sensor replacement is necessary when the resistance value exceeds the established specifications. You should reverse the steps of removal to perform the installation of these components.

Remove the 2 bolts securing the crankshaft position sensor.

Remove the two bolts securing the crankshaft position sensor, applying a torque of 8.8 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 78 in.lbf).

First, remove the intake manifold.

Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.

Remove the 2 bolts to disconnect the sensor.
