The intelligent tester needs to handle VIN registration into a new Engine Control Module (ECM) through an operation of the 17-digit alphanumeric code. You should enter data through the UP, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT arrow keys and numbers 0 to 9 available on the buttons. Use UP and DOWN to select letters on the tester screen and RIGHT and LEFT to navigate the cursor while numeric inputs require corresponding numbers. In case of character corrections use RIGHT or LEFT to position the cursor then select the correct character with UP/DOWN or by hitting numerical buttons. Press the ENTER button to move forward after ensuring the VIN matches between your input and the actual vehicle VIN. You can access the VIN stored inside the ECM by plugging the intelligent tester into the DLC3 connection point and turning on the ignition then powering up the tester followed by selection of DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / VIN. Proceed with the writing of VIN into the ECM by using the same connection and ignition procedures followed by intelligent tester input of VIN while confirming the registration process applies for new ECM installation and verification of incompatible ECM and vehicle VIN.

Remove the 2 nuts securing the ECM.
