This is an ignition part for Toyota Sienna vehicles and like most Spark Plugs, it wears out over time or due to some conditions it is bound to need replacement. These plugs have different periods of usage; this depends on the type of fuel, age of the engine, and way of driving etc. Symptoms of a faulty spark plug are a rough running vehicle, poor acceleration, and a shaking or hesitating engine. All spark plugs should be replaced to prevent more problems from arising or to just keep the engine running at optimum performance. Variations in construction and materials of spark plugs have been developed aimed at increasing the efficiency of ignition and the service life of the components, and the gap and heat range are the essential factors affecting operational effectiveness and protection of the engine.

Toyota Sienna Spark Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install the spark plugs and ignition system components on Toyota Sienna?
    A:
You must install the spark plugs in the 2GR-FE ignition system through mounting the 6 spark plugs at 18 Nm (183 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf) torque. You should install the 6 Ignition Coils through their corresponding 6 bolts while achieving a torque setting of 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) and then connect each ignition coil connector. Install the specified bolt for the No. 1 surge tank stay then apply torque to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf) before proceeding to install 2 bolts and 2 clamps together with a nut to 8.3 Nm (84 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf). Place the intake air surge tank assembly along with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly before adding required amounts of engine coolant. Attach the cable to the negative battery end then verify the engine coolant has no leakage points. You should begin by adding the V-bank cover sub-assembly and the cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front while also installing the No. 1 cowl top to cowl brace inner. To finish the installation process mount the windshield Wiper Motor with its link assembly before fitting both the front wiper arms LH and RH.
  • Q: What are the service and repair procedures for the spark plugs on Toyota Sienna?
    A:
The service and repair procedures for spark plugs are not provided by Toyota. Each Sienna ignition bank contains three Ignition Coils that protect spark plugs underneath them. Before accessing the plugs close to the firewall both the FR cowl top assembly and V-bank cover might need removal.
