The first step to extract a 2UZ-FE camshaft requires fuel system pressure discharge then negative cable terminal disconnection followed by a waiting period of 90 seconds to inhibit the SRS system operation. The first step includes draining engine oil while removing the
Timing Belt before breaking the vacuum hose assembly and removing the fuel pipe clamp. You must disconnect the No. 2 and No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assemblies before removing the fuel pressure pulsation damper assembly together with the air switching valve assembly. When disconnecting the vehicle system the engineer must separate the engine wire by disconnecting the battery terminals together with the air injection control driver connectors. The maintenance procedure starts by removing the
Ignition Coil assembly and
Spark Plug while disconnecting the No. 5 water by-pass hose alongside inlet heater water hose D and removing the No. 1 water by-pass pipe together with its ventilation hose. Removed sequentially from left-hand side are the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH along with the
Camshaft Position Sensor assembly and the camshaft timing pulley sub-assembly LH but only remove the bolts that do not bear arrows. When removing the camshaft sub-assembly of Bank 1 start with the rear timing belt plate LH removal followed by a sequence of operations that includes checking the crankshaft timing pulley timing mark securing the sub-gear with a service bolt aligning camshaft drive/main gear timing marks and performing uniform bolt removal of all 22 bearing cap bolts. Remove the cap bolts combined with seal washers followed by the oil feed pipe, bearing caps, camshaft housing plug, oil control valve filter and camshafts from the engine while maintaining gentle care for the cylinder head thrust reception part. The crankshaft timing pulley needs to remain in its correct position during the same steps that were conducted on Bank 1. The removal of the camshaft timing tube requires a vise to hold the hexagonal camshaft section while using a 10 mm hexagon wrench to take out the bolt and then removing the timing tube assembly along with its drive gear. Special Service Tool 09960-10010, 09962-01000 with the addition of a 5mm hexagon wrench serves to uninstall the 4 bolts and drive gear along with oil seal before extracting the No. 3 camshaft sub gear by rotating it clockwise using these tools, completing the sub gear disassembly with snap ring, wave washer and gear spring removal.
